What Does the Bible Say About Mothers?
Scripture reveals that mothers shape the spiritual and moral direction of their children, and their influence extends far beyond childhood into eternity.
Scripture on Mothers
If you're a mother, write down three specific ways God has equipped you to guide your children—then pray specifically for each child by name. If you're not, text your mother and thank her for something specific she taught you.
Prayer
Jesus invites us to come to Him with gratitude and intercession (Matthew 11:28), especially for those who have shaped our lives.
Father, thank You for the mothers in our lives—their sacrifice, their prayers, their steadfast love. For mothers here: give them wisdom to know how to guide their children toward You, courage when they doubt themselves, and the deep assurance that their faithful work matters eternally. For those of us with living mothers: soften our hearts to honor them and learn from them. And for those grieving the loss of a mother: comfort them with Your presence. Help all of us see motherhood—whether lived or received—as a sacred trust. In Jesus' name, Amen.
