What Does the Bible Say About Lying?
Scripture reveals that God abhors deception because it fractures the image of His character and breaks trust between people He created to live in truth.
Scripture on Lying
Today, tell the truth about something you'd normally hide or soften—even if it costs you something. Start small. Notice what fear was driving the lie.
Prayer
Jesus invites us to pray with honesty, knowing the Father sees what's true about us anyway (Matthew 6:6).
Father, I confess that I've chosen lies—some small, some significant—because I was afraid of what truth might cost me. I've hidden parts of myself, twisted conversations, and deceived people I care about. But Your word is clear: You hate lies because they come from the father of lies, not from You. Give me the courage to tell the truth today, even when it's uncomfortable. And help me believe that Your love is stronger than the shame I'm afraid of facing. In Jesus' name, Amen.
