Scripture reveals that God orchestrates kingdoms and directs rulers to accomplish His purposes, whether they know Him or not.
Scripture on Iran
Daniel 8:3-4
Old Testament
"I looked up, and there before me was a ram with two horns, standing beside the canal. The horns were long, but one was longer than the other, though it had come up later. I watched the ram as it charged toward the west and the north and the south. No animal could stand against it, and none could rescue from its power. It did as it pleased and became great."
Daniel 8:20
Old Testament
"The two-horned ram that you saw represents the kings of Media and Persia."
Ezra 1:1-2
Old Testament
"In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing: 'This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.'"
Isaiah 41:2-3
Old Testament
"Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow. He pursues them and moves on unscathed, by a path his feet have not traveled before."
Romans 13:1
New Testament
"Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."
The Bottom Line
God's sovereignty over nations is absolute—He uses earthly powers to fulfill His plans and protect His people.

Pray specifically for Christians in Iran by name if you know any, asking God to protect them and open doors for the gospel in that nation.
Prayer
Jesus taught us to pray for those in authority and for His kingdom to come in all the earth (Matthew 6:10).
Father, You are sovereign over every nation and kingdom on earth, including Iran. You see the suffering of Christians there and the spiritual darkness that grips that land. I confess I often forget that You are at work even in places where Your name is rejected. Give wisdom to believers in Iran—grant them courage to live out their faith, protection from persecution, and opportunities to share Jesus with those who have never heard. Work in the hearts of leaders and open doors where they seem sealed shut. Help me remember that no nation is beyond Your reach or outside Your plan.
