Scripture reveals that genuine faith produces endurance, and rejection of the Spirit after tasting God's goodness is a serious turning back—yet God's grip on His children cannot be broken.
Scripture on Hebrews 646
Hebrews 6:4-6
New Testament
"It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace."
Matthew 12:31-32
New Testament
"And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come."
John 10:27-29
New Testament
"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand."
2 Timothy 2:11-13
New Testament
"Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself."
1 John 2:19
New Testament
"They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us."
The Bottom Line
Falling away shows you never truly belonged to Jesus; His sheep will never leave His hand.

Examine your own heart: Are you running toward Jesus or running away? Be honest about what you're holding onto instead of Him, and repent of it.
Prayer
Jesus invites us to come to Him and lay our burdens at His feet (Matthew 11:28), even when we're struggling with doubt or temptation.
Father, this passage scares me. I don't want to be someone who tastes Your goodness and then turns away. Give me the courage to follow You all the way, even when faith is hard. Protect my heart from drifting into complacency or compromise. If there's anything I'm holding onto that's pulling me away from You, show me now. I don't want to waste this one life rejecting the One who gave everything for me. Keep me close. In Jesus' name, Amen.
