Scripture reveals that giants—whether literal or metaphorical—are never the ultimate threat when God's people trust Him.
Scripture on Giants
1 Samuel 17:4-7
Old Testament
"A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. He was over nine feet tall. He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels; on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back. His spear shaft was like a weaver's rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels."
1 Samuel 17:45-47
Old Testament
"David said to the Philistine, 'You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the army of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I'll strike you down and remove your head from your shoulders. This whole assembly will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands.'"
Numbers 13:33
Old Testament
"We saw the Nephilim there, and we seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them."
Joshua 1:8-9
Old Testament
"Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Ephesians 6:12
New Testament
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
The Bottom Line
Your biggest problem is smaller than your God, and faith in Him makes you dangerous to everything that opposes His purpose.
Try Today
Name one 'giant' you're facing—something that feels impossible or overwhelming. Write it down. Now write: 'The Lord is with me.' Speak it aloud three times. Then take one small step toward that giant today.
Prayer
Jesus taught us to pray with boldness and faith (Matthew 6:9-13), bringing our fears directly to the Father.
Father, I'm standing before giants. Things that look impossible. Things that make me feel small and powerless. But You've shown me in David's story that the battle belongs to You, not to my strength or strategy. I'm tired of measuring myself against these obstacles instead of measuring them against You. Give me the courage David had—not the courage of confidence in myself, but confidence that You are with me and You are mightier than anything I face. Show me what trusting You looks like today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
