What Does the Bible Say About End Times?

Scripture reveals that the end times will be marked by increasing deception, conflict, and moral decay — but they will ultimately culminate in the triumphant return of Christ and the establishment of God's eternal kingdom.

Scripture on End Times

Matthew 24:3-8 New Testament
"As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. 'Tell us,' they said, 'when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?' Jesus answered: 'Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Messiah,' and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.'"
2 Timothy 3:1-5 New Testament
"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power."
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 New Testament
"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."
Isaiah 2:12 Old Testament
"The LORD Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled)."
Revelation 21:1-3 New Testament
"Then I saw 'a new heaven and a new earth,' for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.'"
The Bottom Line
When the end times come, the humble will be exalted and the proud will be humbled, as God establishes His perfect reign forever.
